Time is one of the most essential and expensive commodities that any person has. It is essential cause you need time to do any work. A lot of us dream for doing so many things in life, but most often, we complain that we dont have time. This is specially the excuse when its about doing something for your personal self - like physical activity or yoga or a hobby or meditation. However, if you manage your time well, you would never have this excuse and you shall have time for all that you want to do. I also call time expensive, cause once time passes, it is never coming back. You cant relive yesterday - today nor will you be able to relive today again tomorrow. You also dont know what is in store for you tomorrow. All that you have is the current moment that you are living in.

This brings me to the 3rd aspect of time - "Time Changes" with every single moment. If you are not healthy today, you can change your diet/ activity pattern and get healthy in time. If you are not rich, you can be one if you work hard enough. If you are ill today, take medical treatment and you can feel better tomorrow. Its only a matter of time, how situations and life changes. And that's what the next page in the art journal that I made for Tejal represents.

Even though I have never interacted personally with her, she is the 3rd musketeer in the trio of Tejal, Saumya & Khusboo and I felt that this art journal would be incomplete without including her favorites. As this quote was all about time, all that I have used on this page is clocks. I used various clocks (its just one stamp from Heartfelt Creations, but I think its retired) showing different time points in a day to further re-enforce the fact that time changes. This page is one of my most favorite pages from this art journal.

They say that books are a man's/ woman's best friend and I so agree to that. I am a book lover & hoarder. I have more books than what I have actually read. I mostly have books on Cooking/ Nutrition/ Health or Art & Craft. I also have read a lot of fiction. I specially love sci-fi/ mythological/ mystery books when it comes to fiction as they open up a magical world wherein you set forward on a journey along with the characters in the book. I am also little crazy and possessive about my books and take the most care of them. I hate it if a page bends or it soils. I hate dog ears in books. You can say, I have OCD when it comes to books.

A book with warm cup of coffee is absolute solace for me. I also know that Tejal and Saumya enjoy reading books and are crazy about books as I am. So when I was creating the Art Journal for Tejal, I knew I had to create a page exclusively with books in focus and use a quote that would specify the dream world that books bring forth with them.

I feel that in life one of the most essential things to be happy is to have "Hope" & "Faith". Hope that even if you are in tough times, better times awaits you. Hope that if you are unwell, you shall get well soon. Hope that all your wishes would come true one day. Along with hope, one also needs to have Faith. Faith not just in God but also in one's own ability to achieve what you want from life. Faith that even if you fail at something or make a mistake, there is always a chance to succeed next time or correct your mistake.
Page 3 in the art journal that I made for Tejal is all about Hope and Faith. Both me and Tejal have been through difficult times this year. So, this page was a reminder for both of us that even if all doesn't seem okay at the moment, we should have hope and faith that things shall get better soon. And what signifies Hope & Faith better than a butterfly. Butterflies represent Endurance, Change with Time, Hope and Life. Also, Tejal loves butterflies and hence was an added bonus to use them on this page.
This page truly did test my hope and faith in myself too while I was creating it as I got some ink marks and texture paste marks on the page which werent as per my plan. But than when I added Butterflies to the page, these marks werent visible. Hence, whenever creating Art Journals dont get scared if you make mistake. You can always rectify it.
I also wanted to use Khusboo's (Tejal's friend) favorite flower "Lavender" on this page. Lavender are symbol of refinement, grace, and elegance. The last 4 months have taught us that however difficult the situation is, we can always face them and come out as winners with grace and elegance. Hence, field of Lavender flowers was perfect for this page on Hope & Faith.
Apply gesso on the card stock/ chipboard base and let it dry. Blend oxide inks on the background.
Mix texture paste with violet acrylic paint and apply through stencil using palette knife.
Once the texture paste is dry, draw stems using paint pens.
Stamp butterflies using black ink and fussy cut. Color using water colours (I used Sakura pens).
Adhere quote on the base using glue.
Finish the page by adding butterflies. Add some foam tape between 2 layers of big butterflies to add dimension.
I would life to thank Saumya for lending the Memory Box Delphinium stencil to create the look of Lavender flowers :) I shall soon be back with the 4th page.
Life is a balance of good and bad times. Happy & sad moments. We may rejoice one moment whereas in the other moment we may be faced with a difficult situation. And only those friends who stand by you and be with you in the most difficult times of life pass the test of friendship. True friends never leave your side in either good or bad times. They are always there for you and they become an integral part of the world.
The page 2 in the art book that I make for my friend Tejal revolves around this truth of life. Though I have never met her in real life, she has been my constant support & true friend in both thick & thin times of life over the last 1 year. We chat almost daily and I cant thank her enough for the amazing friendship. I choose another one of Tejal's favorite flowers "Roses" for this page as a rose depicts these feelings in true sense. The beautiful, fragrant rose flower depicts the beautiful moments of life whereas the thorns depict the difficult times of life.
I used 2 different styles and colors of roses (red to depict happy times and black to depict difficult times) to build this page. Red is also one of Khushboo's (Tejal's friend) favorite color and black Tejal and my favorite color. I used glitter & shine on the red side to give an extra edge of happiness to good times of life.
Apply gesso on the card stock/ chipboard base and let it dry. Blend Candied Apple Ink, mist with water and dab with cloth (this ensures very light shade of ink on the base).
Apply texture paste through stencil on the right upper half of the page, sprinkle red pixie dust and set aside to dry.
Cut circles (2" diameter) from kraft card stock. Apply VersaMark ink through stencil using finger dauber and heat set using black embossing powder.
Adhere the heat embossed circles on the page using glue & foam tape for dimension.
Apply glue on the right edges of the page and sprinkle with Sparkling Dust.
Finish the page by adhering the printed sentiment/ quote.

Though its difficult to explain the process of making this layout, I have tried to describe it in short:
Flora & Fauna:
Make all the flora and fauna using air dry clay by manually shaping the clay (no fancy moulds needed) and let it dry for 24 hours before colouring. Use some embossing tools and carving tools to add texture to clay pieces. (The Octopus was inspired from the video tutorial from Gabrielle Pollacco).
Paint the flora and fauna with your favorite colours. Once dry, apply Nuvo Mousse or Inka Gold to highlight the texture.
Tip: To avoid Acrylic Paint from chipping once dry, mix some Gel medium to the paints before coloring to make them permanent.
Background:
Adhere some price tags and thread strings on ply with help of gel medium.
Thin some 2 in 1 paste and apply on the entire background as gesso.
Once dry, colour using spray inks. Once the inks are dry, smoosh Oxide ink on different spots to balance the colours of the flora & fauna.
Splatter some of the spray ink using brush.
Seal the background using Distress Glaze.
Apply texture paste through stencils on various parts.
Putting it together:
Adhere the flora and fauna to the background with help of glue gun.
Stamp the sentiment on cardstock and adhere to background using glue.
Add Glossy Accent on the sentiments.
To finish, adhere clear drops using Glossy Accents.

I would like to share some information about Artist Trading Cards (ATCs).
Artist Trading Cards or more commonly known as ATCs are miniature pieces of arts that are created and traded by artists around the world. Artists create, trade and collect art at organised "swap" events, either in person or online. ATCs are never sold but are always traded.
ATC trade/swaps have been around for about 20 years now. The 1st ATC swap took place in 1997. In the year 1996 - 97, Swiss artist M Vanci Stirnemann, created 1200 miniature cards and exhibited them at his second-hand bookshop and gallery INK art & text in Zurich, Switzerland from 23rd April - 31st May 1997. On the last day of exhibition, he invited others to create their own cards and trade/ swap with him with the intention to allow people from different backgrounds to participate in an ongoing art project, which was not part of the art market.
A few weeks after the first ATC exhibition and trading session in Zurich, the Canadian artist Don Mabie adopted the idea and showed artist trading cards at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In September 1997, a trading session was organised at the New Gallery in Calgary.

Today ATCs are exchanged world over by artists either randomly or through organised swaps in person or online. ATCs are created in various medium including dry medium (pencils, pens, markers, etc.), wet media (watercolor, acrylic paints, etc.), paper media (in the form of collage, papercuts, found objects, etc.), or even metals, fiber, wax and other materials. Mixed-Media ATCs are a rage all over the world currently. When making ATCs, you dont have to follow any rule as to what medium you use except 1, i.e. for size. All ATCs have to be of the same standard miniature size of 2 1/2" and 3 1/2".
Here are some of the mixed-media ATCs I have made over last few months using various techniques such as stamping, distress inks, alcohol inks, die cuts, quilling, stickers, stencilling, mixed media etc.

I am here today with a very special post. One of my close friends Hetal (I have known her for almost 16.5 years now), wanted to learn distress ink techniques for a long time. Initially we had thought we would make cards with the background we create, but her nephew turns "6 months" this month and so we decided to make 5" by 7" scrapbook instead of cards with all the distress ink techniques we do.
Her nephew's name starts from "P" and is a Leo. So we have incorporated a lot of these elements in the scrapbook. Also the little boy loves multi-colours and as he is a small kid, we decided to use different colours through the scrapbook and not just the usual shades of blues & purples that are conventionally used for boys scrapbook. Along with distress ink techniques, we also used artistry inks (Indian brand), stencil techniques, stamping, spray paints & gelatos for some of the pages in the scrapbook. Hetal picked up distress ink techniques very quickly and I am so proud of her 1st time efforts distressing & making this album. So here is presenting the scrapbook that the 2 of us built together. I have mentioned various techniques & main supplies we have used for each of pages below the images along with those used for the cover page. 270 gsm Iris Paper was used to create all Backgrounds. There is also a small video at the end to show you all the interactive elements that we had incorporated in the album.

We then Spritzed it with pearlized water and allowed artistry & distress colours to bleed and blend. Then we applied Lime Kiss artistry colour on top to blend and bring it all together.
