Sunflower ATC

Hi Friends,

Today I am sharing 2 Mixed media "2.5 by 2.5" ATC with you all. When I had made the sunflower, I was left with some petals that I made for the flower. These ATC were made with the purpose of using these leftover petals as the focal point.

  • The background was created using Ranger distress inks along with stencilling & stamping with Ranger archival ink.
  • I adhered the sunflower petals on the left corner and attached tha foam circle on top.
  • To add texture, I added dots on the circle foam with help of a Sakura micron
  • For sentiment I stamped "Art Journey" from " Unity Stamp Company" on a piece of small cardstock, distressed edges with aged mohagony distress ink and adhered it with a thick double sided tape
  • To finish the ATC, I mixed some red colour with ranger texture paste and applied on the edges roughly with a spatula
Hope you liked these ATCs

Film Strip Mini Album

Hi Friends,

It was my best friend Soumya's birthday in October and I decided to make a mini-album as a birthday gift for her. I used the Paper Mania Film Strip Chip-board Album. The reason for using the Film Strip album rather than building one from scratch was that we have bonded a lot over movies. (Little secret: while in Pune for Ph.D., I have seen maximum number of movies in theatre in the 2 years that Soumya stayed with me.)

I added a shaker element to the cover (Check video below to see shaker element)

Soumya loves music and so the guitar pocker

The flap on the right page is a accordion water fall

Cards for a Cause - Soldier Drive

Hi friends,

This is a very special post. There is a Facebook group called "Cards For A Cause - India" and they recently announced a drive to send "Thank you" or "Diwali" Cards to Indian Soldiers posted in different Battalions. I got to know about the group & this drive through a broadcast message from Neha Gala who is going to put all cards together and mail them to Hall of Fame, Leh from where the cards would be dispatched to soldiers.

So as soon as I heard of the drive, I knew I had to contribute cards for this noble cause of thanking our soldiers who selflessly serve our country & protect us. I made a total of 58 cards for the drive. Stencilling, pattern papers, stamping, distress inking & Zentangle were mainly used to create these thank you cards. I also added a small "Thank You" note inside the card in Hindi for our soldiers

It means: Dear Soldier, Thank you for your selfless service for India. Thank you so much for protecting us from the enemy. You are the true hero of our nation. Wish you a very Happy Diwali

Zentangle cards:

Sentiment Stencilling With Helix stencils

Motif Stencilling With Sakura Gelly Roll Pens & Pie Lane Stencils

Stencilling With Texture Paste  & Pie Lane Stencils

Cards With Pattern Papers

Stamping & Background Work & Water Colouring With Distress Ink or Alcohol Inks

This is my small little contribution for the noble drive. I hope to contribute to more such drives in future.

One Stamp ATC

Hi friends,

I am sharing a mixed-media ATC with you all today. This ATC was made as a part of an Indian ATC exchange group and we were allowed to use only 1 stamp or 1 stamp set to make the ATC. Being the newbie stamper I am, who loves using stamps for everything possible, this was  a great opportunity to look at other supplies I have to complete the ATC.

Materials Used:

  • Iris Paper
  • Acetate Sheet
  • Distress Ink: Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, Dried Marigold & Aged Mahogany
  • Adirondack Ink: Cranberry & Lettuce
  • Alcohol Blending Solution
  • Penny Black Clear Stamps - Blooming Garden
  • Blending Foam & Felt
  • Koi Water Brush
  • Sakura 24 colour water color pen
  • Helix Alphabet Stencil
  • Sakura micro 05
  • Butterfly sequins
  • Red tacky tape
  • Foam tape
  • Paper Twine

Method:

  • Using distress ink squeezed lemonade, wild honey & dried marigold, I created the background
  • Then I distressed the edges of the background using aged mahogany distress ink
  • For the sentiment, I created the tag using dried marigold & age mahogany
  • Thereafter, I cut the actate of desired size & using Adirondack Ink Cranberry & Lettuce and alcohol blending solution, I created a random and bright background on the acetate
  • Then I stamped the desired flower design on another cardstock and coloured using sakura 24 water colour pen & fussy cut it
  • Using the alphabet stencil, I wrote the sentiment on the sentiment tag with help of Sakura Micron
  • Once all the elements were ready, with help of red tacky tape, I adhered the acetate background on the big background at the lower bottom , leaving it open from top (notice the acetate is adhered off centre to create balance)
  • Then I took a piece of orange twine and tied it around the base
  • With the help of foam tape, I attached the stamped flower on top of the twine
  • I punched a hole on the sentiment tag and adhered a piece twine through it & placed it in between the acetate sheet & the background
  • Finally to finish the ATC, I added some butterly sequins around the acetate
Hope you liked the tutorial & were inspired

Handmade Sunflowers

Hi friends,

Origata or duplex paper flowers is a beautiful Japanese techniqe of shaping paper to make flowers and I have been making them for about 15 years now. This is my most favorite form of making flowers as its quick, economical and gives beautiful output.

A few months back, my father-in-law read in the newspaper that keeping sunflower in the house brings lot of positivity and well-being in the house. He knows I love making flowers, so he tasked to make a sunflower for the house. Though I procastinated it for a good 6 months, what I finally ended up making is one of the most gorgeous flowers I have ever made.

Hope you all like the flower :)

Happy Anniversary AJ Banner - Stencilling Techniques With Pie Lane Stencil Part 3

Hi Friends,

Welcome to the Part 3 of Stencilling Techniques used in "Happy Anniversary AJ" banner. Hope you enjoyed the techniques shared in the Part 1 & Part 2 of the Stencilling techniques used in the "Happy Anniversary AJ" banner. The stencils used for the project are from Pie Lane and can be ordered from Maninder Kaur of Rainbow Craftykari (Please check Part 1 to see the designs).

Happy Anniversary AJ

In Part 3, I am going to share all the stencilling techniques I have used for initials of the couples name "AJ".

Die-cutting with stencil - Stencilling Tutorial/ Technique

Die-cutting Technique using negatives: This technique was suggested by Maninder Kaur of Rainbow Craftykari when I got the stencils from her. I took a pattern paper (this pattern paper is from Papericious) and outlined the design on the paper on the right side (i.e. the side I wanted on top). Then with the help of Gyro-cut tool, I cut entire stencil for both alphabets "A" and "J". Once the stencils were cut, I pasted the design on green pattern paper to get the final design.

Additional Tips: Check Part 2, alphabet "S" to know how you can use the positives from this technique too

To bring together the whole banner, we cut the white textured paper in the desired size. Thereafter we took some red card stock and cut them intro desired size and distressed the corner with Aged Mahogany distress ink. We stuck the alphabets on the red background, punched wholes on top with punch machine and used a white string to bring together the entire banner.

Happy Anniversary AJ

Hope you all have loved the "Happy Anniversary AJ" banners and the techniques used for it.

Please do leave your comments & love.
